“those who live should no longer live for themselves.”
2 Corinthians 5:15
Jesus
Christ died for all so that those who receive the new life will no longer live
to please themselves. Instead, they will live to please the Lord. Jesus Christ didn’t
live to please Himself. He lived to please the Lord. This should be our hearts
desire and aim in life as well. Even when facing death, Jesus surrendered to
the Father’s will. God’s Word tells us that in the last days people are not
going to be concerned with pleasing the Lord. 2 Timothy 3:2 tells us that “people
will love only themselves and their money.” As members of His body, we are
going to have to guard against doing that very thing ourselves. We will need to
walk in the Spirit. If we walk in the Spirit, we will not be living for our
flesh.
Father, May I forever live to please You.
Help me to continually be surrendering to Your will in all matters. It would be
easy to think for ourselves and to do what would make our flesh happy. Help us
to guard against this. In Jesus’ name we pray.
