The Lord has laid money on my
heart today. These are the things He has showed me. I pray that these scriptures
bless you and encourage you in the faith and in the area of your finances as
well.
- We should put our trust in God, not
     money: 1 Timothy 6:17 “Tell
those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their
money, which will soon be gone. But their trust should be in the living
God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.”
- We should realize that the love of
money isn’t good: 1 Timothy 6:10 “For the love of money is at the root
of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from
the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.”
- We should be content with what money we
have: 1 Timothy 6:6 “true religion with contentment is great wealth.”
1 Timothy 6:8 “So if we have enough food and clothing let us be content.”
- We should not look down on the poor:
James 2:5 “Listen to me, dear brothers and sisters. Hasn’t God chosen the
poor in this world to be rich in faith? Aren’t they the ones who will
inherit the kingdom God promised to those who love him?”
- We should live simply: Proverbs
30:8-9 “Give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy
my needs. For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’
And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God’s holy name.”
- We shouldn’t get buried in debt: Romans
13:8 “Pay all your debs, except the debt of love for others.” Proverbs
22:7 “Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant to the
     lender.”
- We should tithe: Proverbs 3:9-10 “Honor
the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything your land
produces. Then He will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will
     overflow with the finest wine.”
- We should work hard: Proverbs 6:6-8
“Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and be
wise! Even though they have no prince, governor, or ruler to make them
work, they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter.”
- We shouldn’t work too hard:
Proverbs 23:4 “True humility and fear of the Lord leads to riches, honor,
     and long life.”
- We should save: Proverbs 13:11 “Wealth
from get-rich-quick schemes quickly disappears, wealth from hard work
     grows.”
- We should use our money to do good:
1 Timothy 6:18-19 “Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be
rich in good works and should give generously to those in need, always
being ready to share with others whatever God has given them. By doing
this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the
future so that they may take hold of real life.”
- We can’t take any of our money with us
when we die: 1 Timothy 6:7 “we didn’t bring anything with us when we
came into the world, and we certainly cannot carry anything with us when
     we die.”
Father, thank You for the truths You showed us today. May
we use our money wisely as the Holy Spirit leads. May our treasure be stored up
in heaven. In Jesus’ name we pray.
