“And whatever he does shall prosper.”
Psalm 1:3
Psalm 1:1-3 says “Blessed is the
man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of
sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of
the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree
planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose
leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.”
The Lord has impressed on my heart
today that some Christians are discouraged because they are not prospering in
the things they put their efforts to. They are not being fruitful. I asked the
Lord why this was. I wondered why “whatever he does shall prosper” isn’t always
happening. He told me that 1) they need to do things God’s way—according to His
Word and not the way the world does. He told me that 2) they need to be wise
and surround themselves with Godly people that have the will and mind of
Christ. Iron sharpens iron. Bad company corrupts good character. He told me
that 3) their delight is not in the law of the Lord—and oftentimes people want
to do things their own way. They don’t look to God or ask for His help. He also
told me 4) that they are not meditating day and night on His law. If they would
do these things they would be “like a tree planted by the rivers of water that
brings forth its fruit in its season.” If they would do these things their leaf
would not wither, and whatever they did would prosper. He told me that the
choice is ours. If we do those four things we will be blessed. His hand of
blessing will be upon us. What are we going to do?
Here’s a few more scriptures to
encourage you. Proverbs 12:12 says that “the root of the righteous bears fruit.”
Hallelujah! John 15:5 tells us that He is the vine, we are the branches. Those
who abide in Him, and He in them, bears much fruit. For without God we can do
nothing. We need Him in order to be fruitful and for our efforts to prosper.
Colossians 1:10 tells us “that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing
Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.”
May this be our hearts cry.
Father, may we walk worthy of You Lord.
May we fully please You. May we be fruitful in every good work. May we increase
in the knowledge of You. May we walk not in the counsel of the ungodly. May we
surround us with people that are walking and living for You. May we not stand
in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful. We know that iron
sharpens iron. We also know that bad company corrupts good character. And we
want to be men and women of integrity. May we delight in the law of the Lord
from morning to night. May we meditate on Your law all day long. May we be like
tree’s planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in its
season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever we do shall we prosper
and bear fruit for the kingdom. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. So be it.
