Psalm 147:3 - God heals our broken hearts

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

Psalm 147:3

God is a good God. He is always good. Today the thoughts of those in my family are on the Lord and our beloved cat, Trigger. Trigger passed away sometime this morning after Dave left for work at 2:00 a.m. and the girls got up at 5:00 a.m. It came as no surprise as we had taken him to the vet Monday. When we were there the vet told us that Trigger was going to die in the next day or two as his kidneys and liver were shutting down. The vet sent us home with some liquid pain med’s so that Trigger wouldn’t have to suffer much. All of us wanted to have a few more special days with him. He was such a good cat. He was our little buddy. We were blessed with having him for almost 13 years. Our hearts are broken, we’ve shed many a tears, but God is near. Psalm 145:18 “The Lord is near to all who call upon Him.” Praises to God, and thanksgiving, are on our lips. We may be grieving, but we know that God will mend and heal our broken hearts. There is some joy in our hearts. The fond memories of him bring us joy, causing us to laugh at the sweet memories and cry at the same time. Again, God is good. God is always good. And He was so good to have blessed us.

Father, we thank You that You are near to all who call upon You. We thank You that even though our hearts can become broken at different times of our lives, You don’t leave our hearts to bleed forever, You heal them. We thank You that our love for You is great, and that even, in the midst of pain, we still find ourselves  praising You--for we know that You are good. Heal every broken heart that is in our world today. Be near them. Bind up their wounds. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
