“And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or
father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall
receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.”
Matthew 19:29
Those who have made personal
sacrifices for Christ will enjoy enormous blessings, both in this life and in
the life to come. Maybe God had you leave one church and go to another. Maybe
he had you move from one city and go to another. Maybe you had a job and the
company wanted you to do something unethical so you decided to seek employment
elsewhere. Maybe God had you stop hanging around certain friends as they gossiped
and slandered others so you did. Maybe you used to watch something on
television and you knew God wanted you to stop watching that so you did. He
sees your obedience and He will reward you for that. Today’s verse says that
everyone who has left things for His name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold.
A hundredfold! This is huge. This verse also says that these obedient people
will inherit eternal life. What a great and generous God we serve!
Father, we thank You that when You want us to give certain
things up for Jesus’ name’s sake You in Your goodness pour out hundredfold blessings
upon us. We are not only blessed in this life, we are also blessed with eternal
life. What a good and mighty God You are. Thank You for encouraging us today.
